Today Marije, Julia and I met at Julia's place to start building the pedestal. Julia's landlords allowed us to use their garage, which was great because we had to start building. This task is very complicated and time-consuming, and in order to meet the deadline, building the pedestal over the weekend is the best option that we have right now. We were very lucky to be able to use some tools from Walter (Julia's landlord). Not only did he allow us to use his building tools, but he also explained to us a lot about the building process. Most of the things I already heard from Douwe and my brother, but it was good to conclude what we are supposed to do.

We met after our classes. Our initial plan was to build the entire pedestal and paint it on the next day. Most of the parts of the pedestal were cut at Hubo, but the side parts still needed cutting. So that was the first thing in our to-do list for the day.

I got some of my brother's tools, one of which was the jigsaw that we used to cut the side parts of the pedestal. I had already used this tool during a project last year, but I was still afraid to use it, at first. I was afraid that I'm not going to able to control the jigsaw, and I'm going to mess up the wood. Luckily this did not happen, and the cut turned out to be alright.

After all the parts were cut in the shape we needed, we were finally ready to start building.

Unfortunatelly, Hubo had not cut all the pieces in the dimensions we had told them, but we still managed to put all parts together. The people at Hubo could not cut the corners of the wooden plates, so we have to fill some gaps between the diagonal part and the horizontal top and front parts.

Walter gave us screws and showed us how to use the drilling machine and how to turn the screw inside the wood. Before start building the pedestal, I ask my brother to show me what I need to do, in order to build the pedestal in a correct way. I did most of the drilling and screwing. At some point of the day we started producing a timelapse, which we are planning to continue on the next day.

My idea of finishing the pedestal today, unfortunately, did not work out. The time passed faster than I had thought it would. For now, we have both top parts almost built up ( the diagonal parts still need to be attached ). Tomorrow we will have to attach the legs and fill the gaps.
