Yesterday Nina and I went to Hubo to buy the materials that we need for the pedestal.
Except for the materials that we had to buy, we also had a few other tasks:
Talk to the manager to ask him about the time we have to pick up the wood on Wednesday.
Ask the people in the store about the wrapping foil - how to use it, and on what surfaces it could be stuck.
We bought the screws that we need for attaching the legs to the pedestal, nails, and wood glue.
Unfortunately, we received some bad news. The manager told us that we are not going to get the wood on Wednesday (12.06.2019), but on Friday (14.06.2019), and the reason for the delay is the holidays. Hopefully, there will not have any more delays, and we will be able to get the wood for the letters by Friday afternoon.
We also checked the MDF supplies. We realized that it is not as expensive as we though, and if we buy MDF, the pedestal will definitelly look much better.
We have another option for the pedestal - to use the wood that we have now. It is from bad quality and the textures of the pedestal parts are different so we will have to cover it. Our idea was to use foil and cover the the pedestal with it. During our meeting tomorrow we can discuss what we are going to do - whether we are using the wood we have now, or we buy new wood.
Today I went back to Hubo, together with Julia and we ordered new wood for the pedestal. Julia made a sketch that shows how the pedestal pieces should look. The sketch helped us a lot, while we were explaining how the MDF plate has to be cut down. After we arranged the cutting of the wood for the top pedestal, Julia and I chose the wood for the legs.
When we finished ordering the wood, we picked paint and filler for the gaps in the pedestal.
Now, all we need to do is buy more bolts and we can finally start building the pedestal this weekend.
