Today Julia and I created the cardboard prototype for the letters and the pedestal. The letters were mainly created for the purpose of trying out the placement of the sensors, but also to test the dimensions that the pedestal will need to have.
With the dimensions of the letters, I created last night the length of the pedestal will be 312 centimeters, which is a lot. After a short discussion, we decided to make the size of the letters 50x30 centimeters. After we decided what the new size of the letters will be, we started cutting out the letter from cardboard.
With one of the letters, we also attached cardboard at the side. I wanted to test the dimensions of the letter, but also to test how the letter will look like on the pedestal.

After Julia and I cut out the eight letters. Alex helped me to measure the length and the spacing between the letters. After we had the letters done, we easily decided on the spacing between them (4cm).

Creating the pedestal
Creating the pedestal was more difficult than the letters. It was time-consuming because the pedestal is huge, and we had to destroy it soon after it was done, because we had no place to store it.

The pedestal we created has 275 centimeters length and 140 centimeters height. The depth of the pedestal is 20 centimetres because the letters are only 10 centimetres deep and will fit on the pedestal perfectly.
Bulding such a big pedestal, will require a lot of wood, which means that it will be quite expensive. But this is not the only thing that worries me, the other thing is the size of the pedestal and it's weight. I think that if we split the pedestal into thirds, we can eventually transport it to De Broodbode.

I am really afraid that we are not going to make it. The time we have is running out and our installation is going to be huge. It will be quite a challenge.
At the same time, I am really excited to work on building the installation and see the final result.
