My task for this evening consisted of coming up with my learning goals for this project. I already had a clear vision in mind, which is why it took me only 15 minutes to write everything down.
Learning Goals: Studies
My first learning goal is to become a better web developer. The web development class of last quartile was really fun and I always enjoy the logic that goes along with programming. Therefore, I want to be the main responsible for web development on the team.
My second learning goal is to also work on programming the hardware of the physical installation. The project that I am still most proud of is my interactive Werewolf box of Project Exhibition. Also, this will allow me to extend my programming skills and gain some basic knowledge in programming Arduino.
My third learning goal is to take over a graphic design task, e.g. design for the web, because I want to become a graphic designer. The reason why it is not my first goal is because I already know that there will be a lot of graphic designers and I don't want to end up doing a boring graphic design task as the cool tasks have already been taken by other designers.
Learning Goals: Justification
My first learning goal is to become the Scrum Master, because I have a good talent for organising. I already was the Scrum Master once, and out of all the teams in my class, my team was the only one that finished 95% of the work by the end of week 8.
My second learning goal is to become a better leader of people, which I can also realise by being the Scrum Master. I am great at organising but pretty bad at interacting with people, so this challenge of being a leader again will hopefully make me grow.
My third learning goal is to work on the financials. I am not really craving this role but I think that due to my business background, I will be the most suitable person on the team for it. I am also happy if someone else volunteers though.
My final learning goal is to get better at accepting and growing from criticism. I often feel personally attacked when someone criticises the work that I've poured my heartblood into, when in fact it is just constructive criticism of the thing that I've created and not of me as a person. I also want to get a broader view of options instead of quickly focusing on the first best option.
