Today, we had our first scrum session with our scrum coach Yvens. At first, we were surprised that we did not have to use the big scrum board that had led to some annoyance in the third quartile of the first study year.

Working with VivifyScrum

But Yvens had an even better solution for us: The online scrum tool VivifyScrum. It is a tool in which you can digitally create and manage your scrum board and all the tasks. It took as a little while to get used to it, but Yvens was very helpful at explaining everything.

We found it very hard to think of all possible tasks to put in the product backlog yet, but we managed to create most of the tasks for the first sprint. Since some team members had to leave after the scheduled time frame of the lesson, we did not finish the assignment of the tasks to the team members and the assignment of values to the tasks. Yvens explained to us that we could either estimate the time needed for a task or the effort. We had a little discussion about whether or not it would make sense to estimate the time and ended up going for the effort estimation. But we will have to do that next week.

To Do's for the Weekend

This weekend, we have to be creative and think about some aspects of the project. These are our To Do's for next Monday:

  • EVERYONE: Think about at least 2 name ideas for the project

  • Also EVERYONE: Think about a shop that we should partner with and approach on Monday

  • DESIGNERS: Think about logo ideas

  • DESIGNERS: Think about how the letters could look like

  • TECHIES: Think about how the users could input the designs to the installations (which technologies come to our minds)

  • TECHIES: Think about what other forms of output (besides LED strip) we could use for our installation

  • EVERYONE: Think about additional ways to add value to the installation (e.g. integrate information about Enschede/incentives to visit more of the city)

The designers are Marijke, Dzhulia and Nina, and the techies are Marije, Alex and Julia.
