Week 1: Kick-Off

Today was the kick-off of our exciting new project: Fusion of Art and Technology or in short, Project FAT! We first had an appointment at Saxion where Mark introduced us to the project, followed by an appointment at the client's office.

The Client

Our client is the city of Enschede, or more specifically, Enschede Promotie, the city marketing agency of Enschede. The goal of this project is to attract visitors to Enschede and also make them stay in the city for longer, thus make them spend more money. Generally, the project can also serve to improve Enschede's reputation.

Target Audience

The target audience is split up into three main groups:

• Residents of Enschede: Men and women aged 18-34 years

• Daily visitors from The Netherlands: Women aged 18-44 from Eastern parts; Women aged 21-49 from the whole Netherlands

• Daily visitors from Germany: Single women aged 18-34, taken women aged 35-49 from the Ruhr Area; Single women aged 18-34 from the Euregion

Tasks in the Project

The tasks of the teams of six students consist of building, promoting and funding an interactive installation that will be exhibited in front of a partner shop in Haverstraatpassage in Enschede from Tuesday-Thursday in Week 10 of the quartile. The installation shall serve the city marketing goals of the client mentioned above.

To Do's for Tomorrow

By tomorrow, we need to select a partner in crime: A person that we can trust when it comes to teamwork and that will be our first team partner out of six. With this partner in crime, we should discuss which skills we already have and which others we need to complement our team. Tomorrow, we will have a sort of speed-dating event and select the other team members. I picked Dzhulia as a partner in crime because we're friends, her work attitude is outstanding and she always produces high-quality work.

Everyone should also think about his/her learning goals for this project and submit a document with these goals by tomorrow morning. The goals do not have to be final but we should already have a quite clear idea of our strenghts and aims for professional and personal development.
