Week 4: Thoughts About the Database & Sponsoring

Today was a day with mixed topics on my agenda. Since we had a consult with our product owner, Boris, I made use of the opportunity to ask him about the need to include a database, which I've been confused about for weeks. Later in the evening, I came up with possible texts that we could send to our potential sponsors.
Feedback from Boris
Regarding the database, I know for sure that we have to use one. But after Harry's feedback last week, saying that the use of a database to provide user data to our client is not a good idea, I felt a bit insecure. I know that Harry was just being helpful when giving me his alternative suggestion to upload the designs of the S. And I really appreciate how he is always there for us and gives us useful advice. But I personally found it hard to make friends with this idea, but on the other hand lacked any better ideas of my own.
When I addressed this topic with Boris, he said that he in fact liked the idea of using a database to collect data about users' interests. And he agreed with my that uploading the design of the S is not the most exciting use case for our database. Boris had even more ideas: To do an online survey with users about their experience, or to track their route from the installation, checking if they really went to a place representing their topic of interest.
Lastly, Boris also told me that it was necessary to program a web app. This was a very helpful comment, because I had not known (shame on me, not read the manual properly). I asked him what that meant. With my current workload, I was afraid that it meant that we had to program the app in iOS or Android. But he said a mobile website would be fine too. I am very relieved as the project slowly but surely takes shape and the work I have to invest remains doable.
Sponsoring Email Text
I am good at writing, but last week I had to struggle with so many tasks that weren't actually mine that I totally neglected the search for sponsors. This week, with Marije, I am going to tackle this issue. Marije did not have time after today's lecture with Boris, so we decided to write our texts tomorrow. For it not to take ages tomorrow, I already prepared an email text that the others can review, then we will be done faster.

A similar text was written for Conrad. All our other sponsors are based in Enschede and it might make more sense to contact them by phone. I will discuss this with the others tomorrow.
