Week 5: Building Lesson

Today, we first had a FATConsult with Kacper and Matthijs, followed by a building lesson with Harry and Douwe. In both lesson, we did not need that much consultation, because we were simply not ready yet. Instead, we focused on some progress of our tasks in the team.

Team Tasks

As one of the first tasks of the day, we called Hubo, because we wanted to fix our sponsorship agreement. We are very lucky that Hubo is going to sponsor all of our seven 122x61cm plywood plates! Unfortunately, we also learned that we can only pick them up next Wednesday. We actually planned to cut the Plywood this Friday (tomorrow) so that really threw us out of our planned time frame.

We also received some Feedback from Harry and Douwe on our new pedestal design. Douwe had already seen it, but to Harry it was new. Both teachers seemed a bit concerned that we will not be able to finish our installation in time. It is really discouraging how often teachers remind us of the deadlines - we are all already freaking out because of the deadline.

Another thing that we managed to do was to get the Neopixel. René still had a last 2.5 metre cheap Neopixel strip in stock and we managed to get it before another team got their hands on it. If we order a new one, it's either going to be five times the price we paid or take two weeks to arrive in the Netherlands, so we were very lucky.

Individual Tasks

Apart from that, everyone was working on individual tasks today. Dzhulia worked on the design of the maze for the letter D, Julia did some web development and social media, Marije worked on the Illustrator letters for the laser cut, and Marijke designed the letters that are put next to the team members on our social media. We also agreed to order the marbles and servo motors that we need for our installation from Conrad. Julia's boyfriend will buy them in Dortmund to save shipping costs.
