Today, I spent half of my day searching for wood on my boyfriend's dad's (George) attic. George has some leftover wood from the construction of his wood and some disassembled cupboards. The wood is of mixed quality, but Dzhulia and her brother Mario, a carpenter, had a look at it before, so I was confident that the wood would live up to the requirements of the project.

I also created a long, funny Instagram story but in the process of this, forgot to take some pictures for this blog post. In the end of the blog post, you will be able to see some screenshots I took from the Instagram story.

Selecting the Wood

George and I spent some time on his attic selecting the wood. We used Dzhulia's construction drawing in order to select the wood pieces. It was not that easy because all the long parts of the pedestal need to have a length of 1.38 metres, and many pieces of wood were not that long. In the end, we managed to get all the wood pieces that we nieded. Through a doorway in the attic, we threw down the pieces of wood in George's garden.

Cutting the Wood

Cutting the wood wasn't easy, because there were some leftover hinges and screws in some of wood pieces. When we started removing them with a hammer, one of George's neighbours shouted that we should be quiet from across the hedge (it's a Sunday), and we had to move to inside the workshop. Most of the measuring and line-drawing was done by my boyfriend and I, but George did all the sawing, which I am really grateful for. He used a circular saw, and the results look really good.

Storing the Wood in the Car

In the end, we stored the wood in my boyfriend's car, because he will give me a lift to Enschede on Tuesday morning. By this, the wood can get directly transported to Saxion.

Conrad Supplies

I asked my boyfriend to buy the steel marbles and three servo motors from Conrad Dortmund and received them from him today. The reason why he helped us was that none of the team members has a car - thus we can't easily go to Conrad Enschede, but my boyfriend has a car.
