Week 6: Picking Up the Sponsored Materials at Hubo

Today, I made another visit to Hubo because they finally prepared the plywood for us. Nina called Hubo, and the manager at Hubo told her that I could pick up the plywood around one hour after her call, but it still needed to be cut at Hubo.

When I arrived at Hubo and asked for the plywood, I realised that the man in charge of cutting the wood was the same Hubo employee (his name is Dirkjan) who helped me pick and cut the wood for the pedestal last time. That was really funny, but only to the advantage of my team. He had picked seven big plates of 122 x 244 cm of plywood, although we actually needed seven plates of half this size. It is good that I was there and could tell them.

Dirkjan started cutting the wood plates, I asked him to deliver 24 plates of 60 x 40 cm. The rest, Hubo could keep because they had provided much more wood than we actually needed.

I also asked him about the sponsorship terms that he had negotiated with my team mates from the Letter Team because I wasn't sure what Nina and Marijke had agreed on with Hubo. Dirkjan said that Hubo was extremely happy with the Instagram story that I had created about my previous day at Hubo. He said that everyone at Hubo had watched the story, and that it had been a great success for them being able to share this story on their social media. He said that they did not want much more from us, except from us using their logo. Later, his boss joined and also said that they had been super happy with the way that we had presented Hubo on Instagram.

We also still needed the plexiglass plates for our D and our Eating E. So I asked Dirkjan about the price of those because I had promised my team to compare prices at different shops. He had a little chat with his boss, and after that told me that we would get it sponsored, too. I couldn't believe it! We are so happy about Hubo's generous sponsorship.

Also, Dirkjan was able to cut these plates into two plates of 55 x 35 cm, so that we can comfortably place them in the laser cutting machine at FabLab Enschede. Before taking all our sponsored items to my landlady Christine's car - she has been a great help with transporting all kinds of purchases from A to B - I spoke to the manager again, thanked him for the sponsorship and also asked him about the agreement. He basically said the same thing as Dirkjan. It was really nice that they thanked us so many times for the promotion we did for them, because it's not a big deal for us, and the sponsorship helped us so much.
