We all had to think about a background story for the installation. We had a few ideas and Dzhulia had the best idea. That one I have further elaborated and finished.
Letters presenting themselves (humorous: as if the letters were human characters)
E: Hello, I'm E, as in Events and I'm here to tell you about the cool events in Enschede. Did you hear about … (a past event), or maybe you were there if so, you know how much fun it was! For those who weren't there, don’t worry another event is coming soon … (event)
N: Hello, I’m N, you can find me in the Nature. Come and discover the beautiful nature of Enschede with me! Do you want to leave the busy city? The city parks are just a short walk away from the city centre. Relax, take a walk and enjoy the nature in Enschede.
S: Hi, I’m S, I really like Shopping and Enschede is a perfect city to have a great shopping day! The shops in the city centre are open seven days a week. Around the H.J. from Heekplein you will find well known shops like H&M and Zara. In the cozy little shopping streets, such as the Haverstraatpassage you will find local shops and charming boutiques.
C: Hello, I’m C, I guide you through the artistic side of Enschede! Enjoy the art collection in the Rijksmuseum Twenthe, visit the interactive Museum Factory or get carried away by the music and theater in the Wilminktheater and the Muziekcentrum.
H: Hi, I’m H, look back into the History with me! Enschede is worth exploring. You can still see the contours of one of the gates in one of the oldest streets: the Marktstraat. An example of a historic building is Villa Van Heek from 1870 at the Oude Markt, also known as the house with the great stairs.
E: Hello, I’m E the 2th, let's party in the evening! Enschede is a city with a lot of nightclubs. There’s always a place to have a good party. A night of dancing, drinking and having fun with your friends!
D: Hi, I’m D, as in Doing. I want to tell you something about the nice activities that you can do in Enschede like escape rooms, karts, glow golf and bowling. Do it with your company, friends or organise a children's party. Go out and experience it yourself!
E: Hi, I’m E the 3rd, which stands for eating. I mean, who doesn’t like food? In the city centre you can find a lot of nice restaurants. The Oude Markt has a wide range of cute lunchrooms, cozy cafés and restaurants with various daily snacks. For something tasty while you’re shopping, to enjoy a drink or to go out for dinner. The smaller streets around the Oude Markt are also full of unique, atmospheric food and beverage outlets.
