Weeks 7 & 8: Finishing Up My Parts in the Design Document

The last three days, I worked a lot on my parts of the Design Document. Due to my extensive tasks in web development, my team mates had taken over my parts about the customer journey and the hardware diagram. I thought that writing about the pedestal construction and the website would be an easy task but in fact, it was not.

The construction part, which I shared with Dzhulia, was easily written, but the web part took a long time. I had not considered the fact that I also needed to include the code from the website and explain the more complicated things I programmed.

Eventually, I structured the website text into several parts:

  • An introduction to the three-tier model of software architecture and how our website is positioned in this model.

  • A general overview of the contents of our website

  • A section about the informational pages regarding the project

  • A section about the event finder and the use of the database to find events

  • A section about the HERE Maps API and how we used it to find locations near our spot, de Broodbode

  • A section about the animated timeline for the history of Enschede

  • A section about informational letter pages where you can read texts about the attractions in Enschede (but no further interaction)

  • A section about the use of our database for tracking the amount and visit times of visitors to our letter pages on the website

I am happy that I managed to finish this task today, since I missed the inofficial deadline that we set ourselves for Sunday by two days already. There are other team members who still have not finished their parts of the Design Document either but as the scrum master, I should be a good role model for my team, so I am glad to have finished my parts and to be able to help others with their texts, if needed.
